The performance begins at 7:30; doors open 30 minutes prior.

BASEL ZAYED/ANDREW BLICKENDERFER DUO

Vocalist & oud master Basel Zayed is an experienced Middle Eastern and Arabic music composer and performer, and bassist Andrew Blickenderfer brings a rich background in western music. In this debut duet performance Andrew and Basel will improvise across both styles to reflect the beauty and potential of their shared musical experiences.

Native Palestinian Basel Zayed is a virtuoso oud player and vocalist skilled in classical and contemporary Arabic music. He is a trained pianist with a unique and diverse style, and has composed and arranged music for a number of artistic projects and performing groups. He has created original soundtracks for movies, plays, and dance groups. Also an accomplished conductor, Zayed has more recently focused on incorporating improvisational jazz elements into his music. http://baselzayed.com/

Bassist and multi-instrumentalist Andrew Blickenderfer has performed with a variety of ensembles for CDs, radio, TV, webcasts, film, clubs, and concert halls across North America. You’d be just as likely to catch him laying down “a bass solo that owes a lot to Jimi Hendrix” (Fanfare Magazine) with one of his bands as you would playing cello at a house concert, strolling violin, Italian mandolin, Klezmer banjo, Bach continuo, or an improv jam session.

For those 21+, your first beverage (beer or wine) is included in the ticket price. Complimentary non-alcoholic beverages for all.
