SHOOT THE STACK Photo Contest

SHOOT THE STACK Photo Contest

Deadline extended to November 30th

The Charles River Museum of Industry and Innovation will host a photo contest of our half-million brick smokestack, to celebrate its restoration. Entries will be accepted from all types of photographers. The entries will be judged by Museum staff and volunteers, and personalities from the Waltham community.

First, second, and third-place prizes will be awarded for each of the three categories of photographer:
1) Youth/student Amateur
2) Adult Amateur
3) Advanced/Professional (such as teachers, enthusiasts, photography industry employees, etc.).

Additionally, a best-in-show award (for all the categories, selected by the final jury) and a popular vote award (voted by the public via our website) will be given. Highlighted will also be the best before, during, and after construction photos. The award-winning photos will then be showcased in the Museum for a few months after the exhibition opens. All winners, their families, and the community will be invited to an Opening Night reception for the exhibition of the Contest Showcase.

Please note, this is a revised timeline
due to the pandemic and the chimney restoration project
expected to be completed by mid-November.
This gives photographers the chance to get all the spectacular autumn colors in, and to "Shoot the Stack" in all its restored and scaffolding free glory!
