“Between the fiddle, string bass, drums and slide guitar, you won't know what hit you.”
—The New Yorker
Taking listeners to a place where Appalachian music, backwoods blues and rock ‘n’ roll meet, The Tarbox Ramblers are a four-man wrecking crew The Washington Post describes as “a force of nature.” The group’s sound is built around barbed-wire guitar, virtuosic violin and a rhythm section that won’t quit. And bandleader Michael Tarbox’s tough, knowing songs have the lived-in quality characteristic of the best American roots music. If you like your music straight-up, raw and real, this show’s for you.
This special streaming event will be The Ramblers’ first appearance in two years.
They’ll use the occasion to introduce a number of new songs, and to play with an expanded lineup. Tarbox explains “during shutdown I was starved for the company of my fellow musicians. I feel an intense need to reconnect, explore and catch up with old friends. Asking them to join us onstage is the best way I can think of to do that.”
