Boiler House Jazz opens it's Spring 2021 virtual season with the first time unique pairing of violinist Yaeko Miranda Elmaleh, who is mostly known for fronting her own band in the Klezmer/Roma musical spectrum and Sonya Rae Taylor,  who is primarily known for fronting her own blues and soul fusion band, Yaeko and Sonya have recently been getting together to play music they both love, inspired by Django Reinhardt's Paris based Hot Club de France, a group Django formed with his musical cohort, violinist Stephane Grappelli. That group debuted in 1934 and was among the first to play jazz that featured guitar as a lead instrument.

Yaeko & Sonya Rae believe that music is the expression of emotion, and they wish to take you on a cultural experience filtered through their different backgrounds and training. Their interpretations of jazz manouche (gypsy jazz), French, Latin, blues, and Jewish music are some of the genres they will be drawing from.

Performing in English, French, and Spanish, the duo draws upon passionate styles from around the globe with their own twist. They come together harmoniously under the light of the ... "Caravan Moon".

Yaeko Miranda Elmaleh
's musical style was influenced by her multicultural upbringing: her mother and father immigrated from France and El Salvador respectively in the 1960's. Her sound can partially be attributed to the passionate, artistic, and musical tastes of her family. Yaeko's maternal grandfather was an accomplished impressionist painter and musician that performed with Django Reinhardt and other musicians during the 40's and 50's bohemian era in Paris.  Her paternal grandfather in El Salvador was classically trained in guitar under Agustin Barrios Mangore and her great grandfather in Boston was a jazz clarinetist and owner of the second largest jazz collection in the U.S. during his time.

Yaeko is the founder of her own ensemble, a group that plays a blend of Jewish, Klezmer/Roma, and latin inspired music with an edge. Her multicultural background, unique style along with training in classical and world music, inspires Yaeko to use her playing as a way to heal, soothe and transcend. http://www.yaekoplaysviolin.com/

Sonya Rae Taylor
Boston native Sonya Rae Taylor spent most of her early career in the New England circuit, playing as a hired side-guitarist for numerous singer-songwriters and instrumental groups both on tour and in the studio as a session player. After graduating from Berklee College of Music with studies in guitar performance and film scoring, Sonya met acclaimed guitarist Ryan Taylor who she eventually married. The two relocated to the music scene that is Austin, Texas where they became an established guitar team playing behind the city's most revered soul and blues vocalists.

Diving deep into song-craft, Sonya's work writing original music in Austin was noticed by two major Nashville publishers, and soon after she was signed to BMG Chrysalis and Three-Ring Circus Publishing. She moved to Nashville shortly after signing off as a staff-songwriter and continued to write and and record songs.

Eventually Sonya moved back home to New England with her husband and has been nominated as "Best Blues Artist of the Year" the past two years (BMA), impressively before even releasing any recordings, speaking to the strength of her live performances. The multi-faceted musician is always pushing into new and exciting territory in composition, performance, or collaboration: bending genres and blending her diverse background of influences in blues, jazz, classical, and songcraft.        https://www.sonyaraetaylor.com/
