SOLD OUT - VOICES FROM THE BASEMENT: The story of Filene's Basement–Waltham Film Factory Film Screening

THIS SCREENING HAS SOLD OUT
Voices from the Basement

Screening begins at 7:30, doors open 30 mins prior

Film Screening with Filmmakers Michael Bavaro and Susan Edbril, PhD

110 years ago Edward and Lincoln Filene opened the doors to Filene’s Basement and started a retail phenomenon. No matter how you pronounce Filene’s, everybody knew The Basement.

The 45-minute film was first released in 2010 on WGBH in Boston and was nominated for a local Emmy Award. This special screening will include conversation with the filmmakers and audience. Come and share your Basement story and bring along your favorite bargains if you still have them.

In addition to the film, we will be presenting shorts scenes that were not included in the film due to time format for Public Broadcasting. Go beyond the Basement and see what the customers didn’t see, like The Morgue, The Big House, Loss Prevention, and travel all the way down to 4B.
