Jennifer Kimball is a wildly creative force on the Boston music scene, known for her unusual note choices, her love of dissonance, and ability to create harmony where none has been envisioned before. In the 23 years since the disbanding of her seminal folk-pop duo The Story (with Jonatha Brooke), Kimball has walked her own relentlessly creative and individual musical path. Jazz-inflected folk? Chamber pop?
It’s hard to know what to call the music Kimball makes, but one thing is certain: through it all floats the unadorned and honest voice of a truly literate songwriter; a voice which conveys warmth without affect.
